Trifolium
FUNDACIÓN TRIFOLIUM
ANIMAL ADVOCATE IN SPAIN
The Fundación Trifolium (Trifolium Foundation) was created in 1998 in Spain to protect animals and nature. In the same year, the foundation took over an animal shelter in the outskirts of Barcelona and runs it to this day as a unique run-free, no-kill rescue center that gives home to a 100 dogs and 35 cats in a beautiful property of 3,5 hectars of mediterrenean forest. The animals are fed natural raw and cooked food prepared daily in the premises of the center. A holistic approach to veterinary care is a feature that the foundation prides itself in, combining conventional medicine with natural therapies like Acupuncture, Homeopathy, Reiki and Bach Flowers.
In 2010, they founded the Instituto Trifolium (Trifolium Institute) for the study and practice of Natural Therapies in animals, offering a program of Workshops and courses to people interested in learning and applying them on animals of their own.
Trifolium has always strived to serve as an example of how its founding members believe animals should be kept and treated. It is known for being a pioneer in many aspects of animal care in Spain, and has been considered controversial for its unconventional policies. Animals are not vaccinated whilst they are in the shelter and are treated with the utmost respect as the intelligent, sentient beings the are believed to be. Hence, many of their efforts go to advocating these principles in the hope of inspiring others, teaching, educating and sharing their experience to adults and children.
