Horse Correspondent Lissy Seidel, Dr, Med Vet, MRCVS |
Lissy has worked as a veterinary surgeon in the UK since she moved here more than 20 years ago. Right from the start she incorporated holistic techniques into her day to day work as much as possible. Over the years she has added qualifications in Acupuncture/Laser acupuncture, McTimoney chiropractic for animals and become a bitless bridle instructor after research in the problems riding with a bit can cause. She also has become an expert how to condition horses feet for barefoot riding and competing. She can advise horse and dog owners on all aspects of natural management, working closely with colleagues and practitioners, referring patients to other specialists when needed.
Lissy has shown that her management works - she rides Demon, her Open Team Chase horse bitless and barefoot and not only have they accumulated many wins, but became Open National Team Chase Champions in 2011, laying to rest the myth that you can't compete a horse without shoes. She is constantly accompanied by her lurcher, as she has a serious soft spot for these hounds.
